Il me fait extrêmement plaisir de vous présenter le nouvel album de mon groupe Cordâme en compagnie du pianiste François Bourassa. Enregistré en concert à la maison de la culture Ahuntsic le 24 octobre 2013. Récemment, je mes suis plongé dans nos archives à la recherche de matériel que nous pourrions partager avec notre public afin de maintenir le contact, j’ai trouvé plusieurs belles choses, des vidéos, des enregistrements et des photos. Puis, je suis tombé sur cet enregistrement avec François Bourassa que j’avais complètement oublié. J’ai été frappé par la communication entre les musiciens ainsi que la liberté dans l'interprétation. Ça représente bien la fougue et la joie de partager la scène ensemble. Le concert n’est pas parfait, mais notre monde non plus ne l’est pas et je trouvais que de présenter ce concert dans son entièreté dans l’ordre serait un beau témoignage de ce que nous présentons sur scène.
Il y a une spontanéité, une liberté, une suite de beaux dialogues qui rendent cet enregistrement précieux à mes oreilles. Il m’a paru important de dévoiler ce concert à ce moment ci afin de se remémorer à quel point la musique est influencé par le public présent et que c’est un moment de partage unique. Nous sommes tous en attente de retrouver la scène et j’espère que ce nouvel album enregistré en concert pourra aider à faire patienter nos auditeurs jusqu’à la prochaine représentation. Les musiques sur cet album sont parmi mes compositions les plus joués au fil du temps et je trouvais pertinent d’en rendre disponible des versions plus crues où la sensibilité est à fleur de peau. Certaines pièces sont bien ensoleillées d’autres plus mélancoliques, toujours rendues par une formidable équipe de musiciennes et musiciens.

It is with great pleasure that I present to you the new album by Cordâme with the pianist François Bourassa. Recorded in concert at the Maison de la culture Ahuntsic on October 24, 2013. Recently, I immersed myself in our archives in search of material that we could share with our audience in order to maintain contact, I found several beautiful things, videos, recordings and photos. Then, I came across this recording with François Bourassa that I had completely forgotten about. I was struck by the communication between the musicians as well as the freedom in the interpretation. It represents the passion and the joy of sharing the stage together. The concert is not perfect, but neither is our world, and I thought that presenting this concert in its entirety in order would be a beautiful testimony to what we present on stage.
There is spontaneity, freedom, a series of beautiful dialogues that make this recording precious to my ears. It seemed important to me to unveil this concert at this time in order to remember how much the music is influenced by the audience and that it is a unique moment of sharing. We are all waiting to return to the stage and I hope that this new album recorded in concert will help to keep our listeners patient until the next performance. The music on this album is among my most played compositions over time and I found it relevant to make available more raw versions where the sensitivity is on the edge. Some pieces are very sunny, others more melancholic, always rendered by a great team of musicians.
